- The unexpressed energetic residue of life’s moments is stored primarily in the Sacral Chakra space, the belly, the viscera, the center of our physical vehicle. So much is unsaid.
- One of our intentions for doing the work is to send this unexpressed energy out through the throat chakra as soundings and words. The hesitancy of the throat to be used is proportional to the amount of debris in the sacral. Clearing the lower always diminishes the upper in kind.
- The human vehicle of sound is the voice. Activating the voice through permission, willingness, and practice is essential to move the debris.
- Too often the voice of expression has been silenced by familial and cultural discomfort, rules, pressure, or threat. We are taught not to speak our truth, let out the sound of life’s impact, sing, chant…be heard. The childhood wounds wait in silence.
- It is time to free the voice to allow it to serve the energetic greater good. Actual sound and vocalization are primary power tools here. Vowels carry the emotion. The consonants are fences that limit the emotion. English is a language of action, not feeling. We want to have both…and so we shall.
- Let’s play with the vowels. Move from short a to long e to long o to long u to ah, from the front of the mouth to the back of the throat. Feel the movement of the sound from front to back. Now make the vowels ah, ay, ee, oh, oo and notice there placement in the mouth. Do both exercises again and extend the time spent with each sound. Observe.
- Now, using the phonetic ah, sound it starting with a low pitch and move it up to a higher pitch while paying particular attention to the placement of the sound through the body cavity. Observe
- You have three resonance chambers that influence the tonality, character, and power of the voice: the nasal passages and the cranium, the throat, and the main body cavity. All combine to give you the sound of your voice. Sometimes our voice is compromised by the energetic residue. Fear drives the voice out of the body into the head and the quality is more nasally. A throaty voice is strident and loud, pushing to find a place to be heard. It is only when the voice drops into the body cavity that the warmth, fullness, and passion appear. Explore placement of sound and listen for the differences and the feelings that accompany the experience.
- Ideally you want to speak from the body, full breath sustained by the resonance girth of the chest. Too often we are weak there and stronger in the other two. Many people are afraid to go into the body (chest voice) for that is where the energetic residue lies…and they have been taught that fear and ignoring are way more powerful than feeling what has been pushed away. Come home, little one.
- Singing is voice plus emotion. People must sing…no matter what you have been told about the quality of your voice. You learn to sing by first playing with the voice, experimenting with pitch and volume, shape of mouth, placement, and harmonics. So…play…and then start singing. Do it until you access the joy of doing it…alone at first so that there are no resistances.
- When you start sounding emotion use phonetics, vowels. There is a language of emotion that you are accessing. Each emotion has a sound, a placement. Find yours by exploring.
- We will be exploring the voice in the next block of sessions, so let’s just stress the importance of letting sound out to clear the energetic debris. Sound is actually better than words…as the words have their own baggage. Vocalizations, vowels are raw and filled with the energy of letting go. Work with them.
- A very powerful exercise is to simply start making sound with your voice using nonsense words, characters, and cadences. It is actually considered Spirit Voice, or singing in tongues. The expression of the sounds is the cosmic influence, civilizations, beings speaking through you…particular frequency based guidance pouring in on powerful conduits. Play with this. Start using it and notice the shifts that take place.
- Learn your voice. Use it to soften, excite, express, ignite, intend, claim, sing, name, call, love, soothe…
